I have decided to implement gamification into my app’s experience to encourage adoption and give users an incentive to use public transport. I wanted to implement it in a way that would encourage further participation in fighting climate change and global warming. My approach involved partnering with an organisation called Ecolgi which plants trees for businesses and individuals that sign up for their subscription plans.

I began by doing some research associated with deforestation in Northern Ireland and identifying key areas that are affected the worst. The findings were quite shocking. This gave me a clear view of how bad the problem was in the region of Northern Ireland and justified my idea for implementation.

My idea was to add a pointing system to the app where users gain points for purchasing tickets. The number of points they gain is determined by the length of their journey and how eco-friendly their mode of transport is. They could then use these points to purchase plans or possibly select a number of trees to plant.

Ecologi offers a variety of plans to choose from as well as a statistic feature on their app. My vision was to incorporate that system into my app so that users can view their states in their profile section.
