As part of my UX design process, I reached out to a senior UX designer at Rapid7, John, and asked for feedback on my transport app prototype. I was pleased to hear that John had positive feedback with a few minor suggestions.

First off, I love this. Love the UI design and the branding!! Gorgeous. I haven’t had the chance to design something from the ground up in AGES so I’m very envious. The UX is really clear too. I have a few bits of feedback but nothing major.

Signup, travel cards

One suggestion that John made was to provide more context around the "travel card" option in the app, as it was not immediately clear what it meant.

[UX] I’m not really sure what a travel card is. Maybe your target users will know, but if there was an option to get more context here I would have clicked on it.

Menu button

He also suggested changing the appearance of the menu button to make it more recognisable to users.

[UX] your little menu button looks cool, but I wasn’t sure what it was straight away. I’d make it look more like a standard ‘hamburger’ icon, OR add the word ‘menu’ beside the icon you have.

Passenger selection

John also noticed a discrepancy in the terminology used for passenger selection, where the app would switch from "students" to "adults" when adding additional passengers. He recommended aligning the language to avoid confusion for users.

[UX] it says I’ve selected ‘1 student’ but when I go to add more passengers, the terminology changes to ‘adults’. It left me thinking ‘how do I add another student’. I would align these.

Confirmation page

In terms of the confirmation and purchase pages, John suggested reducing the amount of information on the confirmation page as it required a lot of scrolling.
